


Carter Lauren Construction Limited forms the construction arm of the Bevan Holdings Limited Group of Companies. Since our establishment in June 1993 the aim of the company was to establish itself as a major player within the construction market through commitment and quality of the product, this has been achieved through a strong management structure ensuring a close working relationship with both Clients and Consultants.
Carter Laurens activities are based at Bevan House, Penarth Road, Cardiff, where day to day management and control is overseen by the Board of Directors. Within the management structure are four Contracts Managers, Quantity Surveyors, a Health and Safety Manager, Buyers, Estimators assisted by several clerical staff members. On site projects are controlled by one of the sixteen directly employed Site Managers through close liaison with the main office and supported by other site support staff where applicable.
Carter Lauren=s workforce of approximately 120 are all directly employed and consist of carpenters, painters, bricklayers, plasterers and labourers. In addition the company=s training policy for the youth ensures a continuous flow of top quality tradesmen. Although the workforce can fluctuate in numbers, dependent on the number of contracts being undertaken, it is our policy to maintain a constant number of directly employed personnel, thus ensuring good working relationships at all levels, therefore the additional labour requirement is filled by bona fide labour only operatives.
As with most construction companies, not all trades are catered for in house, where a package of work is to be sub-let this is done via our sub-contract selective tender list, where contractors are vetted prior to their inclusion from the point of view of Health and Safety, previous experience, references, competitiveness etc. Their performances constantly being reviewed to ensure they maintain set standards.
However, bearing all the above in mind, with the current trend in contract tendering, we find ourselves more and more Apartnering@ with the same contractors on the basis of the previous contract, thus ensuring :
A large variety of projects have been successfully undertaken during our development within the Retail, Health, Leisure, Commercial/Industrial sectors, and food retail sector. However although a large number of projects have been completed, as you will note our Client=s list is not extensive, thus proving our commitment to building relationships with Clients ensuring continuous repeat business.
Clients for whom we continue to provide our services include KFC (GB) Limited, Sam Smiths Plc., S.A.Brain and Co Limited, Punch Retail, Gwent Healthcare Trust, University Hospital of Wales, J.D.Wetherspoon Plc., Holiday Inn (UK) Limited, Admiral Insurance, Tricon Restaurants Plc Portfolio Holdings.
Projects have ranged in diversity and value and include Alive@ refurbishment ranging in value from ,20K to ,5million. The larger projects generally are new build ventures yet present the same fast track demands. Each contract challenge is considered in great detail immediately we are involved in a tender situation, or during negotiation of impending schemes.
